Homemade stove top iced tea

One of the greatest triumphs accomplished by me was making my own iced tea on the stove. In this day of modern technology, one made their coffee and tea with electronic devices if they didn’t go to a famous store to buy them.The premade mixes and such worked like soda. It ran right through me.  My mother taught me how to make stove top iced tea. It was less taxing on the kidneys and bladder.  Below was my recipe for Home made stove top iced tea

Here was what the Bible said:

Ingredients

  • 1 jumbo tea bag and two smaller ones
  • 1 saucepan filled 3/4 full of water
  • Lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 Clean plastic pitcher or bottle

Directions::

  • In a saucepan, combine water and tea bags.
  • Bring water to a full boil  on medium heat and add lemon juice, stirring occassionally
  • Remove pan from heat when one can smell the tea boiling. Place lid over the top of the pan and place on non-heated burner to steep or cool.
  • After it cools , pour into a clean plastic pitcher or container Carefully squeeze teabags of excess water
  • Add on cup of sugar and cold water to fill line of pitcher or container
  • Stir the tea with a spoon to melt sugar.
  • Place in the fridge to continue chilling tea
  • Pour a glass and enjoy!

Makes 2 quarts

If using a bottle with a small opening have a funnel handy to pour in sugar or liquid.

If diabetes was an issue add sugar substitute after pouring tea in a glass.
